Cloth Napkins with a Satin Border
A satin border adds a lustrous accent around the edge of the napkin. Choose Padua in white or as a colourful addition to your table linen. To keep the satin band visible on the table, incorporate it into your fold: an outward-facing edge shows the detail more clearly than a tightly rolled napkin.

Which Padua napkin suits your needs?
A satin border is a woven band whose sheen contrasts with the surrounding fabric. The effect is created by the weave – not by a decorative ribbon sewn onto the napkin. Within the Padua collection, your next choices are size, colour and the quantity required.
Padua 40 × 40 cm
For smaller place settings or a compact fold beside the plate. Folded in half twice, it forms a square of approximately 20 × 20 cm. Check which part of the satin border faces outwards.

Packs of 6, 12, 25, 50 or 100
Padua 50 × 50 cm
The larger format provides more coverage on your lap and more fabric for a cutlery pocket. Test the fold with your own cutlery so that the pocket is neither too tight nor unnecessarily wide.

Padua in colour
Add a colourful accent to a white tablecloth or coordinate with your crockery and decorations. Choose from burgundy, dark brown, champagne, black, taupe, navy and brick red.

Sets of 6 in the colours offered
Pack size does not mean a different napkin size: Compare colour and dimensions first, then the quantity. For twelve matching napkins, for example, two corresponding sets of 6 may be suitable. Always refer to current availability and the details in the individual product listing.
Which fold shows off the satin border?
A satin border acts as a frame around the plain fabric. Once the napkin is folded, however, only part of that frame remains visible. What matters is where the lustrous band sits in the finished place setting.
A flat rectangle: leave one edge facing outwards
Start by folding the napkin lengthways and placing it beside the plate. Check whether a satin band remains visible on top. If it disappears inside, adjust the fold or turn the folded napkin over.
A cutlery pocket: show the band above the opening
On a cutlery pocket, the satin border can draw attention to the opening. Try the position with a knife and fork in place: the band should not disappear completely beneath the cutlery or another layer of fabric.
A napkin ring: sheen rather than a complete frame
A napkin ring gathers the fabric together, usually leaving only part of the satin border visible. Keep a section of the edge outside the ring if you want this detail to remain on show.
A simple comparison at the table: Prepare one napkin with a flat fold and a second in a ring. View both under the lighting you will use during the meal. This helps you see which version creates the sheen you prefer.

Coordinating Padua napkins and ordering the right quantity
Matching satin borders or a plain backdrop
A tablecloth with a satin border echoes the edge detail of the napkin. On a plain tablecloth, the napkin’s lustrous band stands out more on its own. When setting the table, check how the two borders sit in relation to each other: depending on the table size and drop, part of the tablecloth’s satin border may hang down over the side.

Assess coloured napkins in the complete place setting
Compare the colour alongside your tablecloth, plate and decorations. A colour displayed on a screen is not a reliable reference for an exact colour match. Before ordering larger quantities, it is sensible to try a standard set in the intended room first.
Compare packs using a specific guest count
For 24 guests, you need at least 24 napkins to set the table. In white, for example, you could choose two packs of 12 or one pack of 25. A pack of 25 leaves one spare napkin. With coloured sets of 6, four packs provide exactly 24 napkins.
Compare the total price of the packs required and allow for additional napkins if they will be changed during the event. For regular use, you also need to account for stock that is currently being laundered.
Do not assume white and coloured napkins need the same care
Even within the same collection, check the care instructions for your chosen colour. Do not assume that a washing temperature or permission to use bleach for a white napkin also applies to a coloured one. Always follow the label for the individual item.
Before placing a larger order: Wash and dry a small quantity according to the care instructions, then test your intended fold. This lets you assess the napkin in the condition in which it will actually be used.
Choosing cloth napkins with a satin border
No. A satin border describes the lustrous woven band around the edge. A mitred corner describes the corner finish, where the hems meet diagonally. The term “satin border” therefore does not indicate a particular corner construction.
The term describes the border design, rather than the entire fabric surface. It does not specify the fibre content either. Check the material and further fabric details in the individual product listing.
The woven band reflects light differently from the surrounding fabric. Lighting, viewing angle and folding therefore change the visible contrast. Wherever possible, assess the effect at the fully set table.
In this selection, coloured Padua napkins are offered in 50 × 50 cm. The white versions are available in 40 × 40 and 50 × 50 cm. Refer to the dimensions in the individual product listing.
Yes. For a consistent overall look, use the same size and fold and vary only the colour. Plan the arrangement before ordering: with sets of 6, the quantity needed in each colour should work with the pack size.
