Plain White Cloth Napkins
A plain napkin lets the decoration on your crockery and tablecloth stand out. For a coordinated table, you will find options here such as Klara in 50 × 50 cm, to complement our white Klara tablecloths. When choosing between small formats for drinks and larger napkins for meals, consider their intended use first – rather than pack size alone.

Under the glass, beside the plate or on your lap?
Plain white cloth napkins often look similar in product photographs. What matters is the role they will serve at the table: a small fabric coaster is no substitute for a napkin at mealtimes.
12 × 12 cm: under the glass
This format serves as a fabric coaster. Check the diameter of the glass base: it should sit entirely on the fabric. This size is too small to cover your lap.
30 × 30 cm: for drinks or a light snack
For a reception or a small place setting where the napkin should take up little space. Folded in half twice, it forms a square of approximately 15 × 15 cm.
40 × 40 cm: for compact place settings
An option for breakfast and everyday use. Folded in half twice, the napkin measures approximately 20 × 20 cm. On your lap, it provides less coverage than the larger dinner format.
50 × 50 cm: for meals at the table
The Klara napkin format provides more coverage on your lap. For a narrow space beside the plate, fold the fabric into a rectangle rather than laying it out as a large square.
When ordering several packs: Compare the model, dimensions and quantity together. For example, two sets of six Klara napkins provide twelve matching napkins. A pack of small cocktail napkins complements these for a reception, but does not replace any missing dinner napkins.
You can also browse the small formats together in our range of cloth cocktail napkins. Refer to the individual product details for the specifications of each item.
White napkins with a white tablecloth: what should you check?
Shades of white can look different side by side: a napkin may appear cooler, while the tablecloth beside it looks slightly warmer. Fabric texture and sheen also influence the overall impression. “Plain white” alone therefore does not mean that two items will look exactly alike.
For a coordinated table setting
Start with the same collection: Klara napkins are the natural choice to complement a Klara tablecloth. This is particularly helpful if you want a simple, unpatterned table setting. However, this does not guarantee an identical shade of white across different production batches or between new and well-used textiles.
Compare before placing a larger top-up order
Place an existing napkin or tablecloth directly beside the new item – ideally in daylight and also under the lighting where it will be used. Compare both fabrics laid flat. Product photographs viewed on different screens are not a reliable way to compare shades of white.
A practical tip for repeat orders: Keep a record of the model and product number of your existing table linen. This makes it easier to find the matching collection than searching by the description “white” alone.

Ordering larger quantities: test your routine first
For a restaurant, catering service or larger celebration, the appearance of a new napkin is only part of the decision. It should still suit your place setting and working routine after washing. Before placing a larger order, purchase a small standard pack and try it out in its intended setting.
Wash, fold and try it at the table
Wash and dry the napkins according to their care labels. Then finish them as you normally would, for example by ironing. Only then assess the feel, dimensions and your chosen fold.
Set a complete place with a plate, cutlery and glasses. If you use napkin rings, also check whether the washed fabric passes through them easily. This helps you establish whether the size and finish suit their intended use before ordering in quantity.
Care requirements must suit your operation
The colour white alone tells you nothing about the permitted washing temperature or suitability for bleaching. Always follow the care instructions for the individual item. If you use an external laundry service, discuss these requirements with them in advance.
Keep these details for repeat orders: The product number, number of napkins per pack and total number of napkins required. Calculate your requirements in individual napkins first, then convert this into complete packs.

Choosing plain white cloth napkins
No. Even an unpatterned fabric has a visible weave structure. Here, “plain” means that there is no decorative pattern. How fine the surface looks and how much sheen it has depend on the particular fabric. Check the detailed photographs and material information for each item.
Yes. A plain napkin allows the tablecloth’s pattern to take centre stage. For a closely coordinated look, compare the sheen as well as the shade of white: a matt napkin may contrast visibly with a lustrous damask surface.
The colour and material alone do not indicate a non-iron finish. If you want a smooth surface or crisp folds, allow time to iron cotton napkins. Follow the care label for the individual product.
A plain surface provides visual space for initials or a logo. Your embroidery provider should test a napkin to assess whether the particular item is suitable for your design. Choose the position with the intended fold in mind so that the motif remains visible on the table. The embroidery thread must also be suitable for the planned care routine.
For the same model and size, compare the price per napkin: divide the pack price by the number of napkins it contains. Also consider how many complete packs you need. Different sizes or fabric qualities cannot be meaningfully compared on unit price alone.
